Charles Elden Douglass Jr.'s Obituary
Charles Elden Douglass Jr., 91, a longtime Miami resident passed away at his home on Tuesday, May 31, 2022. Charles was born on July 12, 1930 in Leon, Oklahoma to Dr. C.E. Sr. and Clarice (Parker) Douglass.
Charles was a Navy Veteran, that was very proud to have served. He graduated with his Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Oklahoma. Charles first loved the Lord and would spend countless hours reading and studying his bible. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Miami. Mr. Douglass was an avid OU fan, any sport he enjoyed watching. Charles loved to travel, loved going and experiencing new things. While at home Charles could be found gardening, flowers, or his vegetable garden, if inside he could possibly be playing dominos with friends and family. Mr. Douglass was preceded in passing by his parents, his wife Charlene R. Sciler Rhoades Douglass, his wife Mildred (Thompson) Douglass, his two brothers and two sisters, Jim E. Douglass, Imogene Mahnken, George M. Douglass and Mary Caroline Douglass and a son D.L. Jones.
Survivors include his daughter Kathryne Eden of Bentonville, Arkansas, grandchildren, Karra Sparks, Lori Burroughs, Jason Jones and Chris Thompson, Courtney Jones, Woodrow Eden, Kevin Eden, and Noah Sparks along with his many great grandchildren, four nephews Bruce Douglass, David Douglass, Kirk Douglass, and Merlin Mahnken and three nieces Cathy Mahnken, Mary Karen Harward and Gwynne Stanker.
Visitation will be Sunday, June 5, 2022 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Brown-Winters Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Miami.
Services will be 10:00 AM on Monday, June 6, 2022 at First Baptist Church Chapel with Reverend Brad Jinks officiating. Interment will follow at 2:30 PM at Fort Gibson National Cemetery in Fort Gibson, Oklahoma. The United States Navy Honor Guard will be providing Military Honors. Services are under the care of Brown-Winters Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Miami.
