Charlene Ruth Hood's Obituary
Charlene Ruth Hood, 91, a lifelong resident of Bluejacket, OK, passed away Monday, January the 1st, 2024, surrounded by her children.
She was born in Bluejacket on August the 11th, 1932, to Chas Francis Skaggs and Delia Irene (Jolley) Skaggs. On July the 27th, 1950, she married Onos Hood in a ceremony in Miami, OK. Onos passed away on December the 10th, 2011, after 61 years of marriage to Charlene.
She was a member of the Church of God Holiness in Bluejacket, where Onos pastored for many years. Along with being a pastor's wife, she worked at the Bluejacket Post Office for several years, and served as a precinct worker for over 50 years for the Craig County Election Board. In her spare time, she enjoyed sewing, cooking, and being involved with the Sow and Grow Garden Club.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Onos; her parents; a brother, Joe Skaggs; a daughter in law, Marge Hood; and a brother in law, Kenneth Willard.
She is survived by three children, Roger Dale Hood and wife Yvonne of Kansas City, MO, Sharon Beets of Bluejacket, OK, and Janice Goins and husband Mike of Fairland, OK; two siblings, Jesse Skaggs and wife Joann of Olathe, KS, and Betty Willard of Hutchinson, KS; 8 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will hold a Celebration of Life at 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 12, at the Bluejacket School Gymnasium. They will greet friends at the Bluejacket Community Building at 6:00 p.m. Thursday.
