Carole Alene Grigsby's Obituary
Carole Alene Grigsby, age 88, of Welch, Oklahoma went to be with her Lord on August 28, 2013 at Higher Call Nursing Center, Quapaw, OK, surrounded by her family. Alene was born March 15, 1925 in San Pedro, California to Don E. and Lois (Parker) Winton. She attended Grandview Country School west of Welch and graduated from Welch High School in 1943. She married her high school sweetheart, John E. Grigsby, on August 3, 1944 in Rapid City, South Dakota before he was deployed to Europe. He preceded her in death on January 1, 2007. She was a member of First Christian Church in Miami and had taught Sunday school classes for over 25 years, and sang in a quartet at Welch Christian Church. She retired from Eastern State Hospital after 25 years as a purchasing agent. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was preceded in death by both parents and one brother, Bob "Red" Winton in Miami. She is survived by three children, Carole Pallissard and husband Jim of Welch, Dr. Steve Grigsby and wife Katy of Welch and Dr. Mark Grigsby and wife Sharon of Miami, Oklahoma, one sister, Donna Tinsley of Fayetteville, Arkansas, one brother, James E. Winton and wife Darlena of Miami. She has 8 grandchildren, Angie Jackson, Jamie Romero, Trisha George, Megan Sullivan, Bricen and Derek Grigsby, Bryan and Joel Grigsby, 20 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, cousins and a host of friends. Pallbearers will be Bricen Grigsby, Bryan Grigsby, Derek Grigsby, Joel Grigsby, Greg Jackson and Abel Sullivan. Visitation will be Saturday, August 31st, from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. followed by the funeral service at 2:00 p.m. at First Christian Church in Miami. Burial will be at the Welch Cemetery. The family requests donations to the Welch Public School Enrichment Foundation c/o Welch State Bank, in lieu of flowers.
