Carol Ed Giles' Obituary
Carol Ed Giles, 88, a Commerce resident passed away at home on Tuesday, June 17, 2025. He was born on March 14, 1937 in Miami to Roy and Ruby (Peckham) Giles. Mr. Giles graduated with the Miami High School Class of 1955. He was a standout athlete and went on to letter in football and basketball at NEO A&M College. Carol was drafted into the United States Army. He worked at BF Goodrich on the Tube Line and after its closing he worked for the Oklahoma Turnpike Authority as a gate attendant. He enjoyed playing with the Goodrich Fast Pitch Softball teams and was an avid football and basketball fan. Carol also enjoyed spending some time golfing. Mr. Giles was preceded in passing by his parents Roy and Ruby Giles, his wife Patsy Ann Giles, a grandson Colby Cantwell, his brothers Marion Giles, John Giles, Moody Giles, Gary Giles and his sisters Nell Runyon, Alice Burgess and Shirley Carlson.
Those who will share Carol’s memories are his daughter Jamie Cantwell of Miami, his son Greg Giles and his wife Janie of Tahlequah, his grandchildren Brett Cantwell, Casey Cantwell, Jeffrey Cantwell, Matt Giles and Seth Giles along with his great grandsons Kal Cantwell, Colby Cantwell and Oliver Giles.
Visitation for Mr. Giles will be Sunday, June 22, 2025 from 6:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Brown-Winters Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Miami.
Services are 2:00 PM at the chapel of First Christian Church in Miami on Monday, June 23, 2025 with Minister Greg Highsmith officiating. Interment will follow at Glen-Abbey Memorial Gardens in Miami under the care of Brown-Winters Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Miami.
Casketbearers will be Matt Giles, Seth Giles, Brett Cantwell, Casey Cantwell, Jeffrey Cantwell and Justin Mount.
