Bonnie Jean (Smith) Boyd, 76, of Chetopa, KS, died August 26, 2013 at Oswego Hospital after a lengthy illness. Visitation for family and friends on Friday, August 30, 2013 at Chetopa Community Bible Church from 6-8 p.m. Funeral services to be held at Chetopa Community Bible Church on Saturday, August 31, 2013 10:00 a.m. Interment at Oakhill Cemetery, Chetopa. Bonnie was born June 12, 1937 at Melrose, KS, the daughter of Cecil and Myrtle Smith. She graduated from Altamont High School in 1954. She married Robert C. Boyd, Sr. in 1957. They had 4 children, Cherie Amador of Parsons, Robert C. Boyd Jr. of Chetopa, Carmela Moore of Atlantic City, WY and John Boyd of Springfield, MO; 17 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; 1 brother, Jerry Smith of Ecuador. She was preceded in death by 1 sister, Barbara Smith. Bonnie was a licensed Assembly of God Minister. She and Trella Hall founded a new church in Riverton, KS known as Spring River Assembly of God. She also ministered in rest homes and taught Sunday School for 60 years. Bonnie and her husband Bob were missionaries in Belgium after his retirement from the U.S. Air Force. She was a member of the V.F.W. Auxillary #10508. Bonnie and Bob loved traveling overseas, especially in Turkey (Asia Minor) where they lived for 3 years. During this time they re-traced St. Pauls Missionary Journeys throughout the Mediterranean Region. Bonnie will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
