Billy Lee Kimrey's Obituary
Billy Lee Kimrey, 88, of Bernice, Okla., passed away at his home on Monday, October 14, 2019. He was born June 18, 1931 in Edna, Kans. to Daniel Lee Kimrey and Clara Mabel (Rexwinkle) Kimrey.
On March14, 1954, Billy married the love of his life, the former Wanda West, in a ceremony at the Bethel Baptist Church in Craig County, Okla.
He worked for many years as a welder and machinist for Magic Circle, Comet Campers, and Blitz. He loved living in Bernice because it was on the lake and he could fish whenever he wanted. He also loved to hunt and work in his vegetable garden, which was the envy of all his neighbors. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Afton.
He is preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Daniel Lee Kimrey; and 3 siblings, Clara Wilson, Dorothy Smith, and Charlene Sykes.
He is survived by his wife, Wanda, of the home; 2 sons, Lee and wife Coleen of Bernice, and Jerry and wife Cindy of Lenapah; 2 daughters, Anna and husband Darrell of Wann, and Lilly Mae Kimrey of Tulsa; 4 siblings, David Kimrey, Larry Kimrey, Shirley Felts, and Linda Briggs; 7 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; several great great grandchildren; and numerous nephews and nieces.
Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, October 18, at the First Baptist Church in Afton. Pastor Todd Wieneke will officiate and Dusty Aleman will provide the music. He will be laid to rest in the Edna Elm Grove Cemetery, Edna, Kans. The family will greet friends at the Thomas & Chenoweth Funeral Home in Welch from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, October 17.
Casket bearers will be Darrell and Levi Best, Scott, Mark, and Terry Kimrey, and Ryan Felts. Honorary casket bearers will be Darren Felts, Howard Smith, Daniel Smith, Don Kimrey, and Gary Sykes.
