Bill Arnold Windle's Obituary
William Arnold "Bill" Windle, 80, a lifetime resident of Welch, Okla., passed away at St. Francis Hospital in Vinita on March 1, 2019, after a sudden illness.
Bill was born in Welch, Okla. on May 5, 1938 to William Windle and Viola (Hall) Windle. He graduated from Welch High School with the Class of 1956. On June 20, 1959, he married the former Leona Smith in Vinita, Okla. He was well known around the area for working in the local gas station for many years. Eventually, he became the owner and continued to serve area citizens.
Bill loved working on lawn mowers and bicycles, fishing, watching wrestling, and anything to do with John Wayne. He was a member of the Welch Baptist Church.
He is preceded in death by his parents and three siblings.
He is survived by his loving wife, Leona, of the home in Welch; three sons, David Windle and wife Sandra of Miami, Chris Windle and wife Lenny of Welch, and Tim Windle and wife Tina, also of Welch; two daughters, Connie Morton and husband Carl of Knob Noster, MO, and Leah Huff and husband Danny of Verdigris, Okla; 9 grandchildren; three siblings, Gene Windle of Bluejacket, Okla., Virgil Windle of Smithville, MO, and Erma Atkins of Stephensville, Texas; and numerous nephews and nieces.
The family will receive friends in the Chapel of the Thomas Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Welch from 5-7 p.m. Monday, March 4, 2019. Services will held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 5, 2019 also in the Chapel. Pastor Ralph Heiney will officiate. Family will serve as casket bearers. He will be laid to rest in the Welch Cemetery.
