Bill Dry, Sr.'s Obituary
Bill Dry, Sr. 80, of Commerce, OK, passed away August 27, 2014 at Landmark Hospital in Joplin, Missouri, after an illness. He was born February 2, 1934 in Benton County, CO to Claude and Helen (Flora) Dry. He was a proud member of the graduating class of 1952 at Commerce High School. He attended NEO A&M College in Miami, obtaining his Associates Degree. He proudly served his country with the United States Army. Bill married the love of his life, Shirley Davis in Miami, OK, on December 17, 1960. The couple made their home in Commerce where they raised their children. He worked as a machinist for Vicker's Sperry Rand in Joplin for many years. He was a member of the Elks Lodge of Miami. Bill was an avid OU Fan and a very talented woodworker. He enjoyed his family and loved spending time with them. He is preceded in death by his parents; 1 brother, Claude (Gig) Dry; daughter-in-law, Cindy Dry; and 2 nephews. He is survived by his loving wife of almost 54 years, Shirley; 1 son, Bill Dry, Jr and fiancé Carri Burrow of Bluejacket; 1 daughter, Sherry Turner of Miami; grandchildren, Chase Davis, Michael Nair and wife Katie, Amanda Burnett and husband Jesse, Jordan and Chandler Dry; 2 future grandchildren, Nathan and Hannah Hughes; 9 great-grandchildren; 1 sister, Betty Bibb of Commerce; sisters-in-law, Jeanette Dry of Joplin, MO, and Pat Frisbie of Miami;several nieces and nephews; and a host of friends. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, August 29, 2014 at the Paul Thomas Funeral Home, Commerce. Services will be held at 10:00 Saturday, August 30, 2014 at Paul Thomas Funeral Home, Commerce. Rev. Jack Jones will officiate. Serving as pallbearers will be Chase Davis, Michael Nair, Jordan Dry, Michael Jones, Jesse Burnett, and Jerry Mills. Interment at G.A.R. Cemetery, Miami, OK
