Beulah Joyce Pigg's Obituary
Beulah Joyce Pigg was born July 25, 1929 to Curty and James White of Van Buren, Missouri. She passed from her earthly home to her heavenly home, at the age of 84, on Monday, March 3, 2014 at Integris Baptist Regional Health Center in Miami, surrounded by her family. Joyce married Claude Anson Pigg on October 22, 1948 in Van Buren, Missouri. Together they raised three children, making their home in Commerce, Oklahoma. She was preceded in death by five brothers and two sisters. She worked at Eastwood Manor in Commerce, retiring after 18 years of service. She then worked part time for the Commerce Public School system. She was a devoted member of the First Assembly of God Church in Commerce, where she taught Sunday school and Vacation Bible School. She was a part of the Women's Missionary in Christ through the First Assemblies of God. She was active and devoted her time to the Commerce Community Senior Citizens. She was a proud member of Eastern Star #41. Joyce came from and married into a large family. Family was the most important thing to her. She was raised in a Christian home and strived to install Christian values into her own family. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Claude Pigg, of Commerce, Oklahoma, 3 children, Claudette Shira and husband Kim of Baxter Springs, Kansas, Brenda Conner and husband Allen of Commerce, Oklahoma, and Gary Pigg of Miami, Oklahoma. She is also survived by 7 granddaughters, Chantell Rather, Columbus , Kansas, Diane Maynard, Rolla, Missouri, Tisha Melnicki, Fayetteville, Arkansas, Twyla Kerley, Miami, Oklahoma, Tina Karnes, Quapaw, Oklahoma, Chandy Turner, Quapaw, Oklahoma, Sommer Foy, Joplin, Missouri, 17 great-grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews. A visitiation will be held from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 6, 2014 at the First Assembly of God Church in Commerce. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 7, 2014 at the First Assembly of God Church in Commerce with Rev. Howie Moss officiating. Burial will follow at Glen Abbey Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Blake Rather, Dusty Karnes, Billy Kerley, Pete Melnicki, Devin Turner, and Greg Maynard. Honorary pallbearers will be Austin Karnes, Jayden Rather, Landon Maynard, Kaid Karnes, Dayton McIntosh, and Jace Rather. Joyce will lie in state at the Paul Thomas Funeral Home Chapel in Commerce from Wednesday afternoon until Thursday afternoon.
