Betty Lou (Weston) Ray's Obituary
Betty Lou (Weston) Ray, 90, formerly of Commerce, went to be with the Lord Thursday morning, February 20, 2020 at Grand Lake Villa in Grove. She was born March 1, 1929 in Golden, MO to Lawrence and Beaulah (Pattison) Clay. The daughter of a preacher, Betty would travel with her parents to revivals all over the area, singing alongside her oldest brother, George.
On January 12, 1957, Betty married Lee Weston in Eureka Springs, AR. While living in Eureka, she worked as a waitress for G&J Café. Betty and Lee later moved to Miami, where Lee took a job with B.J. Goodrich. Betty continued to waitress for many years, touching the lives of so many people. Lee preceded her in death at the age of 68.
Betty later married Thomas A. Ray, Jr. on December 31, 1991 in Branson, MO. They made their home in Commerce. Betty and Tom enjoyed spending time with their family, especially all those grandbabies. They also enjoyed loading up the big van and traveling back and forth to Branson for many years to their favorite fishing resort. After a long battle with cancer, Tom preceded her in death on February 8, 2000.
As her health needed extra care, Betty moved to Grand Lake Villa in Grove, where she received not only the best of care, but continued to touch the lives of those around her, sharing the love of the Lord.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; one brother, George Clay; 1 step daughter, Karolyn (Ray) McDaniel; 2 step grandchildren, Sharon Rogers Wyatt and Robbie McDaniel; and one step-son-in-law, Bill Rogers.
She is survived by two sons, Doug Weston and wife Cynthia, of Miami, and Rocky Weston and wife Diane of Tahlequah; one step-son Thomas N. Ray, Sr. and wife JoAnn, of Cassville, MO; 1 step-daughter, Judy Rogers of Miami; 8 grandchildren; two brothers, Pastor Jim Clay and wife Sandea of Cassville, MO, and Larry Clay and wife Marlaine, of Jane, MO; one son-in-law, Robert McDaniel of North Miami; many nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
Visitation 10-11a.m. Monday at First Christian Church Chapel, Miami.Services to follow at 1:00 p.m. Officiating will be Chaplain Geoff Buffalo and Pastor Jim Clay. Betty will be laid to rest in the G.A.R. Cemetery, Miami.
Serving as casket bearers will be grandchildren, Taylor, Tanner, Cody, Jordan, Leighton, Tiffini, Cydni, and Kenley Weston.
