Betty J. McAffrey's Obituary
Betty J. (Patch) McAffrey, 87, a longtime resident of Welch, OK, passed away Wednesday afternoon, November 7, 2018, after a long illness.Betty was born December 10, 1930 in Columbus, KS to John Patch and Flossie (Smith) Patch. She was a graduate of Welch High School. On June 27, 1948, she married Roscoe Lee "Red" McAffrey. They made their home in Welch where they raised five sons and a daughter.She worked a number of years at Walmart in Miami before retiring. She loved cooking, quilting, embroidery, crafts, and cats.She is preceded in death by her husband, Red, on June 14, 2012; a son, Roy McAffrey in September of 1986; her parents; and two brothers, Bob Patch and Bill Patch.She is survived by a daughter, Renee McCool, and husband Jim, of Pierce City, MO; four sons, Ronnie McAffrey, and wife Carol, of Baxter Springs, KS, Rudy McAffrey of Oklahoma City, OK, Rodney McAffrey, and wife Rachelle, of Peoria, OK, and Russell McAffrey, and wife Cindy, of Neosho, MO; along with 14 grandchildren.The family will greet friends from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Monday morning, November 12, 2018 at the Thomas Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Welch. Following the visitation, a graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. at the Welch Cemetery where she will be laid to rest next to her husband. Minister Jesse Burns will officiate.
