Betty Marie Lookingbill's Obituary
Betty Marie Horne Lookingbill, 82, of Grove, OK, passed away May 26th, 2023 at Integris Grove Hospital after a sudden illness.
She was born August 4th, 1940 in Springfield, MO to Giles Berdet Parks and Thala Annas (Johnson) Parks. She was a graduate of Grove High School, Class of 1958. On October 6, 1961, she married Walter Horne. He preceded her in death after 53 years of marriage.
Betty began her career as a nurse at Baxter Springs Hospital and concluded her 40 year nursing career working many years for Dr. Carle Schroff in Springfield, MO. In her spare time, she enjoyed flowers, birds, entertaining guests, family, and most of all, her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a member of the 2 Rivers Baptist Church in rural Wyandotte, OK.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Giles and Thala Parks; her husband, Walter Horne; a daughter, Sonya Horne; her 2nd husband, Bill Lookingbill; 3 sisters, Jean Hutton, Dene Eley, and Ida Painter; and two brother, John and Bobby Parks.
Those mourning her loss include her daughters, Tonya Phillips and husband Mark of Mt. Vernon, MO and Kim Slaughter of Grove, OK; a sister, Helen Waldron of Fairland, OK; her loving companion, Tom Swisher, of Grove; 3 grandchildren, Kinna Card, Lane Phillips, and Kylie Mareth and her husband Ivan; 4 great grandchildren, Ivey, Lilian, Aspen, and Ronan Mareth; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, June 2nd, 2023, at Crossroads Church near Grove, OK. The family will receive friends beginning at 1:00, prior to the service. Following the service, she will be laid to rest at GAR Cemetery in Miami.
