Betty Hinkle's Obituary
Longtime Grove resident Betty Belle Hinkle died Thursday, January 13, 2022, in Miami, Oklahoma. She was 95.
Mrs. Hinkle was born June 21, 1926, in Southern California to Floyd and Blanche Roden. Growing up in Ontario, California, she graduated from Chaffee High School and attended Chaffee College, the oldest community college in California. She married Euler Henderson Hadley in 1945. After his discharge from the U.S. Navy, the young couple moved back to California and started their family. Mrs. Hinkle moved with her two boys to Joplin, Missouri about 1956. She married Herber “Gene” Hinkle, and they had two daughters. In about 1963, the family moved to a cabin on Grand Lake where they lived the “lake life” until Gene’s death in 1972. In the 50-plus years Betty made many friends, caught a lot of fish (some two at a time), knitted special things for everyone she knew and spoiled her little dogs daily. Her adventures continued after she moved into town where she liked to entertain her kids and grandkids. Preceding her in death were her parents; sister, Shirley Fox; and a grandson-in-law, Michael Richards. Survivors include two sons Roger (Wanda) Hadley of Shawnee; Ronnie (Betty) Hadley of Kilauea, Kauai, Hawaii; two daughters, Pam (Chuck) Perkins of Grove; and Debbie (Kevin) Sanford of Fairland, OK; Her 11 grandchildren are Cameron (Cindy) Hadley of Broken Arrow; Lindsay (Brandon) Dyer of Shawnee; Megan Richards of Paris, Texas: Lauren (Kalani Barretto) Hadley of Kapaa, Kauai, Hawaii; Mandy (Kaili Olanolan) Hadley of Kilauea, Kauai, Hawaii; Rondy (Ryan) McClellan of Mesa, Arizona; Tyler (Laura) Hadley of Kapaa; Whitney (Noah) Fields of Douglas, Wyoming; Dillon (Ginna) Sanford of Tahlequah; Makayla (Jeremy) Shaw of Miami and Madison (Billy) McCall of Bartlesville. The 27 great-grandchildren are Hannah and Henry Hadley of Broken Arrow; Noah, Luke, Hadley, and Lily Dyer of Shawnee; Declan and Harper Richards of Paris; Kali Barretto of Kapaa; Wailani and Roc Olanolan of Kilauea; Branley, Haley, Hunter, Lily and Sadie McClellan of Mesa; Logan, Cooper and Livia Hadley of Kapaa; Zoey, Emma and Cooper Fields of Douglas; Kerra and Kreek Shaw of Miami; Parker and Emily McCall of Bartlesville.
