Betty Jo Fields' Obituary
Betty Jo Fields, 81, of rural Welch, OK, passed away December 3, 2015 at Landmark Hospital in Joplin, MO. She was born March 18, 1934 to Thomas Frank Shamblin and Opal Mamie (Webb) Shamblin. Betty was married to Bobby Joe Fields. After 44 years of marriage, he preceded her in death on June 3, 1997. They made their home east of Welch where Betty was a professional horse trainer. Training horses was her life and she dedicated herself to training race horses. She was of the Seventh Day Adventist faith. She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, and one daughter, Debra Jo Fields who passed away June 3, 2015. She is survived by one son, Thomas Eugene Fields and wife Barbara of Miami, OK; 6 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren; one sister, Elaine Switzer of California; one brother, Leon Shamblin and wife Wanda of Big Cabin, OK; along with numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 6:00 p.m. Saturday, December 12, 2015 at the Thomas Funeral Home in Welch, OK with visitation following the service.
