Betty Jean Darr's Obituary
Betty Jean Darr went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 5th, 2022 at Windridge Nursing and Rehab, Miami, after a lengthy illness.
Jean was born to Levi and Lennie Goodwin in the Banzet area northwest of Welch in rural Craig County. She is survived by her daughter in law Kay Darr, sons Randy D. Darr and wife Carla of Bluejacket, Darrell Darr and wife Jennifer of Round Rock, TX, 9 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, 9 great great grandchildren, her brothers, W.A. Goodwin of Webb City, MO, and Calvin "Glen" Goodwin and wife Jeanne of Decatur, AR, a sister in law, Paula Goodwin of Welch, along with many nieces and nephews as well as a host of friends.
Jean married Charles L. Darr, Sr. on December 22nd, 1948 in Picher, OK. They lived in Picher until 1969 when the moved to North Miami. Jean was a homemaker and helped at a preschool in Miami for 3 years, and at the Christian Church daycare for 15 years. In 1982-1983, they bought land west of Quapaw, OK and built a house, moving there in 1984.
Jean and Charles loved attending Picher First Baptist Church where they were active and helped out where needed. They loved seeing and enjoying time with their grandchildren. Jean dearly loved the Lord and her family.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Lloyd Darr, Sr., parents, a sister, Roberta Darr, a brother, Bill Goodwin, her oldest son, Charles "Lloyd" Darr, Jr., and a granddaughter, Carissa Darr.
A visitation will be held at the Thomas & Chenoweth Funeral Home on Tuesday, June 7th for 6-7 p.m. Graveside service will be held Wednesday, June 8th, at 11 a.m. at the Walker Cemetery, northwest of Welch. Chaplain Geoff Buffalo will officiate. Casket bearers will be, Chuck Darr, III, Walter Darr, John Darr, Kenne Prater, Randy D. Darr, and Callin Darr.
