Archie Tom McGuirk's Obituary
Archie Tom McGuirk, 74, of Welch, OK, passed away January 25, 2017 at his home after an illness, surrounded by his loving family. He was born August 7, 1942 in Lodie, California to Claude and Dorothy (Myers) McGuirk. He worked for the City of Chetopa for many years. While employed with the city, he enjoyed helping people with various jobs including tree trimming. He later worked for Eastern State Hospital in Vinita, retiring after 17 years. Archie married Shirley Fromm-England on May 7, 1991. The couple made their home in rural Welch. Archie enjoyed life and spending time with family. You could always find him in the top of a tree trimming limbs, or in the nearest junk store with his wife. He was preceded in death by his father, Claude McGuirk; his mother, Dorothy Myers McGuirk-Longer; 1 son, Bill McGuirk; 1 grandson, Justin Maxwell; and 1 great-granddaughter. He is survived by his loving wife, Shirley; sons, Stacy McGuirk of Joplin, MO, Dick England and wife Teresa of Miami, and John England and wife Candy of Welch; daughters, Cherri McClure of Muskogee, Vera Price and husband Bill of Chetopa, Debbie Martin and husband Mark of Baxter Springs, KS, and Sarah Poage and husband Steve of Ryan, OK; brothers, John McGuirk and wife Faye of Welch, Jerry McGuirk and wife Rita of Chetopa, Jimmy Longer and wife Amy of Sacramento, CA, Timmy Longer and wife Rose, also of Sacramento, and Art McGuirk of Oregon; sisters, Irma Dodewood and husband Dave of Washington, Cherry Haggard and husband Dan of Moore, OK; uncle, Chet Myers of Colorado; aunt Louis House of Michigan; 26 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. Visitation 6-7 p.m. Sunday, January 29, 2017 at Community Bible Church, Chetopa, KS. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, January 30, 2017 also at the church. Pastor Randy Frazier will officiate. Serving as casket bearers will be Jimmy Blundell, James Blundell, Rob Darnell, Stevie Darnell, Roscoe Stafford, Ron Woods, and Matt Josey. Interment at Fairview Cemetery, East of Chetopa, KS.
