Anna Jo Zada Arnold's Obituary
Anna Jo Zada Corn Arnold, 89, of Miami, OK, passed away Monday, March 23, 2015 at her home, surrounded by her family. She was born February 13, 1926 in Craig County, Oklahoma, Indian Territory. She was a proud member of the Cherokee Tribe. Anna attended school at Rogers Grade School until the 6th grade then attended Welch Public School. She met and married Roy W. Arnold on Valentine's Day 1944, he survives the home. They were married 71 years. Together they farmed in the Welch area until 1957, they then moved to Miami. They raised 2 daughters, Anna Elizabeth Foust and Louise Whitlock, both of Miami, OK. Anna worked alongside her husband on the farm and gardened, and canned their harvest. She also worked at Parsons Ammunition Plant, Ben Franklins, and Crane Comp, before retirement. Anna, along with her husband, traveled around the country with family and friends. They also spent winters in Yuma, Arizona for many years and most of their summers for 43 years at Roaring River at Heavener's Fisherman's Inn. Anna enjoyed cooking and sewing as well as gardening and tending to her flower gardens and house plants, and watching her red birds. Anna was a loving mother and wife, and the best grandma on earth to her grandchildren, Misty Whitlock, Aaron Whitlock, Toby Foust, all of Miami, OK., Leon Foust of Bartlesville, OK; great-grandchildren, Mindy Garvin, Taylor and Kelsi Foust, Daltun and Jay Dale Whitlock, all of Miami, OK, and Reid Foust of Bartlesville, OK, Garrett and Zachary Whitlock of Joplin, MO; great-great grandchildren, Benjamin and William Garvin of Miami, OK. She is also survived by a brother, Denzil Corn of Miami, OK, as well as many nieces and nephews. Anna was preceded in death by her parents; 2 brothers, Arthur and Onie Corn, as well as 2 sisters, Bessie McGoy and Naomi Arnold; a grandson, Jay Dee Whitlock II, great-grandson, Tyler Wilmoth, of Miami, OK, and great-great grandson, Jay Arthur Whitlock of Joplin, MO. Anna was a member of the Methodist Church of Miami, OK. She was also a member of Miami Chapter #107 Eastern Stars for over 55 years. Go to heaven and reunite with all those who are waiting for you. We will miss you always and forget you never. We brought grandma home and cared for her ourselves with pride and honor. Her caregivers were Misty and Louise Whitlock, Mindy Garvin, and Wanda Sealey. We would also like to thank Good Shepard Hospice, the nurses and the aides for their kindness; and lastly, we want to thank JD Whitlock. Grandma considered him her son, and counted on him for many things. Thank you so very much for all your love and caring for grandma. The family will receive friends from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 25, 2015 at the Thomas Funeral Home, Welch, OK. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, March 26, 2015 at the Thomas Funeral Home, Welch, OK. Bob Bilke will officiate. Grandchildren serving as casket bearers will be Toby Foust, Misty Whitlock, Mindy Garvin, Leon Foust, Aaron Whitlock, and Daltun Whitlock. Honorary casket bearers will be JD Whitlock, Dennis Reavis, Mike Woods, Dale Havenar, John Ingram, and Kit Garvin. Interment at Walker Cemetery, Welch, OK.
