Alvin Richard Kerns' Obituary
Alvin Richard Kerns, 86, of Grove, Okla., passed away Thursday morning, February 4, 2021, at his home on Grand Lake in Grove, surrounded by his family.
He was born December 19, 1934, in Welch, to Ruben and Myrtle (Ames) Kerns. He was a graduate of Coffeyville High School. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force from 1954-1958.
Prior to living in Grove, he lived in South Coffeyville where he was a rancher. It was a job he loved to do every day. When the cows were fed and all the chores done, he loved to hunt and fish. He was married to the love of his life, the former Neda Williams, until her passing in 2005.
Others preceding him in death are his parents; a daughter, Donna Jean Kerns; two grandchildren, Colton Kerns and Michael Brock Eubanks; and four siblings, Raymond, Emma, Ethel, and Ioan.
He is survived by two children, Duane Kerns and wife Donna of Grove, and Vicky Eubanks and husband Mike of Joplin, MO; one brother, Ed Kerns of Welch; four grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 2-3 p.m. Sunday, February 7, at the Thomas & Chenoweth Funeral Home in Welch. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, February 8, also at the funeral home. He will be laid to rest in the Welch Cemetery next to his wife, Neda. Pastor Geoff Buffalo will officiate.
