Alice Arlene Rice's Obituary
Alice Arlene Rice, 82, of Miami, OK, passed away Saturday afternoon, June the 10th, 2023, at Freeman-West Hospital in Joplin, MO, after a sudden, unexpected illness.
She was born July the 20th, 1940, in Raton, NM to Woodrow and Thelma (Bell) Gripe. She was a high school graduate. On December the 26th, 1960, she married Hugh Arthur "Art" Rice in a ceremony in Naturita, Colorado.
Arlene and Art made their home in Colorado for several years before moving to Oklahoma. She was full time homemaker, raising her and Art's three children. She relaxed by sewing in her spare time.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband Art; a sister, Erna Foster; and a grandson, Mathew Logan T. Hankins.
She is survived by her three children, Darrell Rice and wife Lynda of Miami, OK, Ruth Rice, also of Miami, and Trudy Hankins and husband Patrick of Waxahachie, TX; five sisters, Mary Schwartz, Audrey Palmer, Bernice Williams, Brenda Humble, and Menno Gripe; seven grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, June the 16th, 2023, in the chapel of the Thomas & Chenoweth Funeral Home in Welch. Pastor Jamie Crawford will officiate. She will be laid to rest in the Welch Cemetery next to her husband.
