Shirley Ann Shelton

Memorial services were held for Shirley Ann Shelton, 75, on Friday, Feb. 1st at 2 p.m. at First Christian Church of Miami. Service was under the direction of Brown-Winters Funeral Home with Dr. Brian Brubaker officiating. Shirley went to be with her Lord and Savior on January 26, 2019 at her home. She was born Shirley Ann Collins on August 25, 1943 in Miami to parents James Wilber Collins and Nondes Hughes-Collins. Shirley grew up in Arkansas and graduated from Pine Bluff High School. She married David Ray Shelton on July 22, 1966 in Pine Bluff before the couple returned to Oklahoma and eventually settled in Miami, where they raised four daughters. She has many other family members, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends she loved dearly. Shirley was a homemaker as well as a clerk at Anders Shoe Store in Miami for 30 years. She was a member of First Christian Church of Miami. Her hobbies included gardening, painting, arts’ and crafts, cheering on the Arkansas Razorbacks and Oklahoma State Cowboys and visiting with sorority sisters of Pheta Eta-Beta Sigma Phi. She loved spending time with her family cooking Sunday dinner so everyone could be together. Her family was the most important thing in her life. She was a very kind and considerate lady who loved giving to other people. She is survived by her brother James (Jimmy) Collins Jr. and his wife Bitsey of Springdale, Arkansas; and two sisters Abbey Jane Cherry of Miami and Margaret Jo Stuckey and her husband Charles of Rison, Arkansas; three daughters Stacey Miller and her husband Glen of El Reno, Peggy Pickens and her husband James and Cindi Shelton all of Miami; one son Also survived by four grandsons Andrew Miller and his wife Kearsten of Broken Arrow, James Ray Pickens of Miami, David Abel Shelton of Fort Bragg, North Carolina and Heath Shelton of El Reno; two granddaughters Erin Miller of Dallas, Texas and Lexi Shelton and Roy Garcia of Commerce; two great grandsons Gabriel and Abraham Garcia of Commerce; one great granddaughter Kathryn Jo Miller of Broken Arrow. She is preceded in death by both parents James W. Collins and Nondes Schmelhorst, her husband David Ray Shelton, and daughter Elizabeth Ann (Betsy) Woolsey and one granddaughter Emilly Ann Miller.
