Paul Jerome Owens

Paul Jerome Owens, 77, a resident of Miami, Oklahoma passed away at his home Wednesday, April 30, 2014. He was born in Gore, Oklahoma on June 22, 1936 to Olen and Cherry (Screws) Owens. Mr. Owens was a veteran of the United States Navy. He later married his love of fifty-eight years Jean Warsop on June 28, 1955 at the First Assembly of God in Miami. Mr. and Mrs. Owens are members of Mount Olive Lutheran Church. Paul worked for Griffins in Muskogee for a few years then the family moved back to Miami, where he worked at B.F. Goodrich, the family transferred to Indiana with B.F. Goodrich for eight years then made their home in Miami. Mr. Owens enjoyed painting, gardening, catfish and crappie fishing, hunting and had a garage full of OU sports memorabilia from his brothers. Most of all Paul was proud of his children, and his family. Mr. Owens was preceded in passing by his father Olen Owens and brother Bill Owens, mother-in-law, Helen Warsop, and brother-in-law, Jack Warsop and Daughter-in-Law, Lisa Owens. Survivors include his Mother Cherry Owens, his wife Jean Owens of the home a son Jerry Owens and his wife Rebecca of Miami, a daughter Cheryn Robertson and her husband Doug Robertson, along with his grandchildren, Zachery and Beau Robertson of Muskogee, Ok. Granddaughter, Wakenda Willingham, and Great Granddaughter Haley Dizinno, of Erie, Co. His sisters, Della Miller and Patsy Hoover and her husband Don Hoover and his brothers, Dale Owens and his wife Carol, Steve Owens and his wife Barbara, Larry Owens and his wife Debbie, Tinker Owens and his wife Terry, Jimbo Owens and Robin McCuine. Sister-in-laws Sara Owens, Nancy Jones and Kathleen Ferguson. He also survived by his many nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends. Paul was dearly loved and blessed in this life and is in heaven with his Lord and savior. Visitation will be on Friday, May 2, 2014 at the Brown-Winters Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Miami from 6:00 PM until 7:00 PM. Services will be 10:00 AM on Saturday, May 3, 2014 at Mount Olive Lutheran Church in Miami with Reverend Dwight Moeller officiating. Interment will follow at the Grand Army of the Republic Cemetery. Services are in the care of the Brown-Winters Funeral Home and Cremation Service. The family asks that donations be made to Mount Olive Lutheran Church, in memory of Paul Owens. Pallbearers will be: Brad King, Colton King, Casey King, John Hadley, Brandon Follis-Ledbetter and Frank Hecksher. Honorary Pallbearers will be Jimmy Neal, Zachery Robertson and Don Hoover.
