Gladys Marie Saenz

Gladys Marie Saenz, 98, a longtime resident of Miami, Oklahoma, passed away on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, at Integris Grove Hospital. Gladys was born in Beeville, Texas, on August 23, 1927, to Kirby and Ila (Davis) Staton. The family moved to Miami when she was six, and she has lived in the area since. She graduated from Miami High School and later attended Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College, where she obtained a degree in bookkeeping. Ms. Gladys spent much of her life working within the home, raising her five children. Gladys loved arts and crafts. She was a proud member of the Tri-State Arts and Crafts organization, where she served as chairman for many years. She was an expert seamstress and made many clothes for her daughter and others. She even made her daughter’s prom dresses. Gladys loved flowers, especially irises. She had many different colors and varieties of irises growing in her flower beds that were admired by all. She also loved swimming. She took the family to the Miami City pool to swim and was the oldest student at the NEO aquatic center, swimming into her nineties. She loved and enjoyed spending time with her family and was always concerned about their welfare and happiness. She is preceded in passing by her parents, Kirby and Ila Staton, her husband of 42 years, Mario Saenz, son, Danny Saenz, son-in-law, Jack Jackson, and siblings Pauline Wilson and Kenneth Staton. Those left to share the beautiful memories of Ms. Gladys include her daughter, Laura Jackson, son, Michael Saenz; his wife, Lisa, son, Tony Saenz; and her son, Peter Saenz. Grandchildren include Janee Odle, Joshua Jackson, Deana Tucker, Matthew Saenz, Zachary Saenz, Sarah Saenz, and great-grandchildren, Sidney, Gatlin, Maddoc, Liam, and Kaden. There will be a graveside service for Gladys at 2:00 PM on Friday, February 27, 2026, at the Grand Army of the Republic Cemetery in Miami, Oklahoma, with Reverend Gary Bishop officiating. Services have been placed in the care of Brown-Winters Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
