Fannie Lillian Foust

Fannie Foust, 87, departed for Heaven from Higher Call in Quapaw on June 13, 2014. She was born at home near Afton. She went to Smith country school a half-mile away for schooling, church and community activities until a tornado blew it away. She graduated from Afton High School in 1944. Fannie worked at Patterson’s sewing clothing for soldiers during World War II. She graduated from N.E.O. with an Associate’s Degree of Arts in 194¬7, and was Football Homecoming Queen in 1946. She taught school at Iron Post, Beck and Turkey Ford. She married Calvin Foust on June 11, 1950. Fannie then began her life-long career as Calvin’s helpmate and Farmer’s Wife on the Foust Farm which has been in the Foust family for over 100 years, only 9 miles from where she was born and raised. She enjoyed reading, with the Bible being her favorite book. She enjoyed traveling with her husband and sometimes other family members, and explored and appreciated many of the beauties of God’s handiwork in every one of the 50 United States, Mexico, Canada, Europe, China, Australia and Israel. She took Jesus as her Lord and Savior as a young girl and was a member of Miami First Christian Church and the Martin Class for over 64 years. Fannie was preceded in death by her parents, Bert and Jessie Harper; her siblings Lela Culver, Vernie Hyatt, Annabelle Hamilton, Dorothy Harshaw, and Leo Harper. She is survived by her three daughters and their husbands: Carolyn & Steve Taylor, Marilyn & Donald Kirkland, and Cecilia & Skip Harris all of whom are living near Miami on the family farm; 9 grandchildren: Jeremiah Taylor, Joshua Taylor, Jacob Taylor, Quatie Jorgensen, Kalseji Reeves, Galela Kirkland, Kendra Britten, Aaron Trone and Mande Harris; and 18 great-grandchildren: Caleb, Calissa, Kenna, Jeshua, Ruby, Allen, Paityn, Paxtyn, Thayden, Taivyn, Kuwayah, Katori, Jonas, Sera, Audrey, Chloe, Andrea, and Jacob. Visitation is to be held at Miami First Christian Church Monday, June 16 from 6 pm to 7:30 pm. Celebration of Life is to be held at Miami First Christian Church Tuesday, June 17 at 10:00 AM with Ministers Leon Weece and Jared Joslin officiating. Interment will follow at the Williams Timberhill Cemetery under the care of Brown-Winters Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Miami. The family requests Memorial Gifts be given to Ozark Christian College, 1111 N. Main, Joplin, MO.
