Charlotte Ruth John

Charlotte Ruth John was gifted to her parents Raymond John and Juanita (Stewart) John in 1964. She completed their family that gave her a brother, Raymond “Sonny” and a sister, Raenita “Sue.” Due to some unforeseen troubles in her first years, Charlotte was adopted with an unknown birthday, so her Mother decided to share hers with her new baby girl, so May 20, 1963 would become the day we celebrate in her honor. In her younger years, Charlotte was a typical, ornery, little girl. She loved being outside, fishing, swimming, camping, and anything that had to do with animals. She often told stories of spending days at a time with her parents, her older siblings, and their families camping at Twin Bridges in Wyandotte. Not long after Charlotte came along, so did her Nephews and Niece. 4 Nephews and a Niece, to be exact. Charlie, as she liked to be called later in life, was quite the character, and it seemed that trouble just loved to follow her, or maybe she chased it! During her teenage years and through most of her adulthood, she found herself dealing with the consequences of her fun-filled “adventures.” But, that’s one thing that can be said for sure, she always took ownership of her wrongdoings, because after all, she couldn’t tell the stories that went along with them if she didn’t. No matter what chapter of her life she was in, one thing was for certain, there was going to be animals! She loved them all! Horses, Chickens, Goats, Dogs, Cows, Frogs, and anything else! She even prided herself in becoming a licensed dog trainer. Charlie said her favorite job she ever had was at the Carthage Humane Society. She seen the potential in all the lost, broken, and unwanted animals. She said that being adopted herself, she felt like she could relate to the animals she fell in love with. (Which was ALL of them!) Especially her very own adopted girl, Sophie. She has a bad leg, bad habit of growling at anyone and anything, and a bad attitude. But, Charlie called her, “Momma’s Perfect Angel.” Charlie’s life was far from perfect. She fought many demons and climbed many hurdles. Most of them, she faced alone. She had many acquaintances, but only a few close friends. In her later years, Charlie was learning to love a peaceful and relaxed home life. She went to work and came home to do “nothing” most days. She loved to eat good food, watch anything true crime (She loved to see if she could solve the crimes before the detectives,) and watch Chiefs Football. Charlie will continue to be loved and missed by many people! She leaves behind her Sister-In-Law: Terry (Gary) Richardson Four Nephews Danny (Abby) John, Scott (Megan) John, John Eric (Kristy) Annis, and Casey (Anne) Annis, One Niece: Kari Jones, Her Best Friend of 25yrs, Dannielle Scott, and Many Great-Nieces and Nephews, Great-Great Nieces and Nephews, Many Cousins, and friends too numerous to count. Charlie left this world to start her Heavenly Adventure on Sunday, February 4th 2024 in Carthage, Missouri. Charlotte was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Juanita. Both of her Siblings, Raymond and Sue. By her Great-Nephew Tadrien. And by her son, Charles Ray whom she will be able to finally hold in her arms. Her Mind and Heart are finally both at Peace. There will be a Memorial Potluck BBQ on May 18th at Noon at Schifferdecker Park in Joplin. More details to follow.
