Steven Max Perry, fondly known as “Snake”, passed away on December 28, 2021 after a lengthy illness. Mr. Perry left this world peacefully while at his home in North Miami, Oklahoma. He was born on May 27, 1965 to Billy Clayton and Joyce Ann Whitecrow Perry. Steven was the ninth child of ten children his parents had. Mr. Perry was born in Los Angeles County, California and grew up in Bell Gardens, California. He moved with his family to Miami, Oklahoma in the winter of 1978. He graduated from Miami High School in May of 1983. He also attended NE VoTech in Afton, Oklahoma. He helped to build the first “solar” house in the area back in the mid 1980’s. He worked for the Peoria Housing Authority and Seneca-Cayuga Tobacco Company. He was a proud member of the Seneca-Cayuga and Chickasaw Nations. For many years he assisted the Faithkeepers with the ceremonies. He was a pointer and collected “bets” for Greencorn, loved to lead the occasional “49” song or stomp, among other things. He genuinely loved his Tribe and was a proud Native American. Steven was a kind and gentle soul, beloved by his children, grandchildren, brothers, sisters and friends. Steven was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, Billy Allen Perry, Casey Clayton Perry, Michael Joe Perry, Sr. and Scott Garrett Perry. He was also preceded in death by one son, Terry Boyer. He leaves behind three children, Steven Max Perry, Jr. and his spouse Hailee, Bambi Lovesee and her husband Dan, Arley “Brown” Blakey and her husband John. Also, four sisters, Toni Gayle Raishart, Lisa Gaye Spano, Ginger Alene Heatherly and her husband Linden and Dolly Ann Pewitt and her husband Douglas. Mr. Perry will lay in repose at his son’s home located at 819 C Street NW, Miami, Oklahoma starting Thursday, December 30, 2021 and will be laid to rest at the Seneca-Cayuga Ceremonial Grounds Cemetery on Friday, December 31, 2021. Service to start at 11:00 a.m. All friends and family are welcome. Faithkeeper Jason Whiteeagle will provide Indian Rites, Ginger Heatherly Head Cook, Pud Quapaw, Head Gravedigger. Pallbearers will be nephews, Jason Perry, Justin Raishart, Casey Perry, Ryan Perry, David Spano and Trey Ingram. Honorary Pallbearers will be Pudd Quapaw, Mike Perry, Linden Heatherly, Doug Pewitt, Dan Lovesee, John Blakey and Joe Spano. Services are being handled by Brown-Winters Funeral Home in Miami, Oklahoma.
