Kay E Captain

July 12, 1938 - November 14, 2021

Kay E. Captain, 83, a longtime Fairland Educator passed away at Freeman Health System in Neosho. She was born on July 12, 1938 in Wyandotte, Oklahoma to Willis A. and Nellie (Wright) Shockey. Kay graduated with the class of 1956 before graduating from NEO A&M and then Oklahoma City University with her Bachelor’s Degree. Kay worked as a school teacher mostly in Fairland and mostly in the first grade for over 27 years. Kay was loved by all of her students. She loved to go shopping and loved Elvis, she taught all of her grandchildren to two step and waltz to Elvis. One of her favorite things to do was have her nails done. Mrs. Captain was preceded in passing by her parents Willis and Nellie, her husband Rex Captain, Brother Kenneth Shockey and Sister Carrie Coffee. Those left to share Kay’s memory are her children, Frank Captain and his wife Madalyn of Chelsea, Lisa Stivers and her husband Tony of Quapaw and Bryan Captain and his wife Lisa of Grove, her sister Patty Love and her husband Jim of Fairland, a sister in law Shirley Shockey of Granby, her grandchildren Kendra Nunley and her husband Travis of Neosho, Megan Hurley and her husband Chris of Yorktown, Virginia, Jordann Gibson of Fairland, Tyler Captain and Destiny Rice of Chelsea, Karlee Gibson and Austin Ford of Chelsea and Caleb Captain and Shanna of Adair, along with her great grandchildren Blayne, Rowan, Payton, Bryan, Phoenix, Emily, Sophia, Lynnix, Arieus, Hattie, Nolan, Archer, Karson and Beckett. Visitation for Kay will be 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Tuesday, November 16, 2021 at the First United Methodist Church in Fairland. The service will be private with interment at Wyandotte Cemetery under the care of Brown-Winters Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Fairland.
