Carol Alata Crippen

March 10, 1946 - February 24, 2022

Carol Alata Crippen, 75, a longtime Miami resident passed away with her children surrounding her at her home on Thursday, February 24, 2022. Carol was born on March 10, 1946, in the Southwest City area to Loe Fields and Ura (Barnes) Fields. Carol graduated with the Class of 1964 at Miami High School. Carol married her love of forty-seven years Jesse W. Crippen in August of 1967. She ran an in-home day care for many years before working at Home of Hope as a caretaker. She retired from Home of Hope after sixteen years of work in 2018. Her family remembers that she would care for others over herself. Carol was preceded in passing by her husband Jesse Crippen, her parents Loe Fields and Ura Bigelow, her siblings, Dorothy Sherwood, Pauline Hardin, Kenneth Fields and Jo Anna Morgan. Survivors include two sons Danny Crippen Sr. of Commerce, Steven Crippen Miami, her daughter Laura Goins and her husband Justin of Fairland, grandchildren Danny Crippen Jr. and his wife Kalli of Bluejacket and Grace Goins of Fairland and great-grandchildren Jaxon Crippen, Carter Crippen and Brooks Crippen. Also surviving are her sister Lorene Burks, a brother Loe Dean Fields and his wife Debbie and many nieces and nephews. Services for Carol will be Wednesday, March 2, 2022 at 10:00 AM at Brown-Winters Funeral Home and Cremation Service Chapel with Reverend Geoff Buffalo officiating. Private family interment will follow at the Fields Cemetery near Grove. Friends and family may send the family notes of encouragement by viewing Carol’s Tribute Page at www.brown-winters.com.
