Wanda M Nickerson

Mrs. Wanda M. Nickerson, 85, a resident of Republic Missouri passed away on Friday, March 22, 2024, At home with family and friends. Mrs. Nickerson was born on August 19, 1938, in Welch, Oklahoma to Mr. Charlie Sylvester and Mrs. Violet Deloris (Turley) McKinzie. Wanda attended Miami Business College before starting a career as a telephone operator for 30 years before retiring in 1986. She was a member of Hudson Creek Baptist church and a firm believer in the power of Christ- Her commitment to family, compassion, and kindness to everyone she encountered was a testimony to her belief in him. She and her husband Mr. Jack Nickerson lived on their farm in Miami Oklahoma for 45 years and in those years raised beef cattle and crops while both working outside the home full time. She enjoyed crocheting and working crossword puzzles as well as putting together jigsaw puzzles. Wanda loved gardening and was a wonderful cook. She loved cooking for family, friends, and neighbors during the Holidays or for even just weekend get togethers. Mrs. Nickerson was preceded in passing by her parents Charlie and Violet McKinzie, her brothers Earnest Eugene McKinzie, Charles Lee McKinzie and Jimmy Dale McKinzie and sister Agnes Lorene Lloyd. Those left to share Wanda’s memories are her husband Jack Nickerson of the home, her daughter Rena L. Nickerson of Springfield, her brother Kenneth Leroy McKinzie and wife Gail of Grove Oklahoma, her sisters Shirley Jean Hall of Stillwater Oklahoma, Cynthia Lynn Harlan and husband Terry of Carl Junction Missouri. Two very special sister-in laws Jana Beth McKinzie in Colorado and Ruthie McKinzie in Kansas. Close friends Shannon and Mike Gunter, Connie Roberts, Clara Pickens, Chanda Smith, and Stanley Wilcox. Wanda leaves behind so many nieces and nephews that were all so special to her and she loved them so very much. Services for Mrs. Nickerson will be 11:00 AM on Saturday, March 30, 2024, at Brown-Winters Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Miami.
