Thelma Lorene Bennett

Thelma L Bennett, 85 of Crystal River, FL, left this world on June 20, 2015 at Sunshine Gardens Assisted Living, Crystal River, under the care of Hospice of Citrus County & Nature Coast to take her place in Heaven with God and his other angels. Thelma was born in Tiff City, MO on October 15, 1929 to Arthur and Nada Mathia, one of 7 children. She grew up in the Grove Oklahoma area before her marriage to William C Bennett, and then resided briefly in Bartlesville Ok before moving to Miami, OK. They lived in Miami for their 35 years of marriage before his passing in 1984 and until 15 months ago resided in Miami/Grove area. She graduated Wyandotte High School and Miami Business College and worked for Phillips 66 in Bartlesville before locating back to the Miami area and going to work for BF Goodrich Co and retiring from there after 35 years of service. She was a personnel clerk and later an insurance clerk for the plant. Throughout her life Thelma was a member of many professional and social clubs but her love of God and her church were primary in her life. She was a member of the First Christian Church, Miami, OK where she served the Lord as Martin class president, Tri-State Missionary Council president, VBS craft leader as well as worker, organized nursing home outreach program and other work for the Lord too numerous to list. Thelma enjoy reading, painting, quilting, cooking and especially her family & friends. She is survived by her daughter, Billie E Guilfoyle of Crystal River FL & her husband Roger, 2 grandsons, Christopher T Guilfoyle & his wife Gina of New Braunfels, TX, and Kyle L Guilfoyle & his wife Stephanie of Hollywood MD, 2 great-granddaughters Cailin & Malia Guilfoyle of New Braunfels, TX, one brother, Gene Mathia & his wife Barbara of Grove, OK, numerous nieces & nephews , and her “daughters & granddaughters” at Sunshine Gardens who are related to Thelma by bonds of love and Pat Grubb of Miami, OK, a daughter of the heart. The family would like to thank Sunshine Gardens for their comfort & unending love and Hospice of Citrus County & the Nature Coast. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations to Citrus Co Hospice , PO Box 641270, Beverly Hills, FL 34464 or Alzheimers Association. A memorial service will be at First Christian Church, Miami, OK by Pastor Leon Weece at 11 AM Friday followed by interment in GAR Cemetary, Miami, OK. The family will be at Brown-Winters Funeral Home , Miami, Ok , on Thursday evening from 7 to 8 PM. Arrangements are by Brown-Winters Funeral Home, Miami OK. God is good. He grants his comfort and Grace to all those who believe in him.
