Savannah L. Mason

Savannah Lou Mason of Fairland, OK, left us on the wings of an angel on October 6, 2017. She was 85. Savannah was born November 19, 1931 in Kenwood, AR, to Almus Thomas and Beatrice Mae Leavell Medlock. She married James Arnold Mason on November 26, 1950, in the home of her parents in Morrilton, AR. He precedes in death. She had lived in Fairland since 1953, moving from Hot Springs, AR. She was a faithful member of the Afton Church of Christ before her illness began with Alzheimer's. Additionally, she was employed at Sue's Resale Shop for 21 years, where she met and cherished many friendships. Savannah attended NEO A&M College, was an active member and held various offices in Fairland PTA while also serving many years as a homeroom mother, Fairland 4H leader, and worked for the Ottawa County Republican Election Poll. James and Savannah celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in November 2010 at a dinner celebration with their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren present. In addition to her parents and husband she is preceded in death by brothers, Hershal and Harold; and sisters, Syble Lockart, Amy Grant and Iris Mitchell. Survivors include daughters, Andrea and husband Gwyn Slaton of Valliant, OK and Susan Riley of Gravette, AR; sons, James M. Mason of Tampa, FL, and Stephen and wife Lorna Mason of Tulsa. She is also survived by her sister Jennifer Sloan of Norman, OK. Other survivors are her grandchildren, Allyson Shapp of Quapaw, Ash Kelly and wife Andrea of Norman, OK, Alicia and husband Nathan Collins of Amsterdam, MO, Savannah Mason of Tampa, FL, Jessica and husband Jeff Holcomb of Searcy, AR, Abigail Brame, Nick and wife Quincy Mason of Tulsa, Lauris and Bayli Schultheiss of Bismark, ND, Ali and husband Corey Ryder of Collinsville, OK, and Madyson Schultheiss of Owasso, OK. She is also survived by great grandchildren, Garrett, Deacon, Peyton, Jarrett, Preston, Wyatt, Vanna Rose, Katy Grace, Lexington, Brooklyn, Dalton, Raedyn, Daphnie, Sophia, Greyson, and James. In addition, she is survived by many loving nieces, nephews and friends. Funeral services will be held at Brown-Winters Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Miami on Tuesday the 10th of October at 2:00 in the afternoon. Mrs. Mason’s nephew, Mike Mason of Bixby, OK, will officiate. Interment will be in Fairland Cemetery. Pallbearers are Ash Kelly, Garrett Kelly, Jeff Holcomb, Nick Mason, Nathan Collins, Drew Pate, Allyson Shapp, Alicia Collins, Jessica Holcomb, Abigail Brame, and Savannah Mason. Honorary Pallbearers are Gerald Tipton, Gene Shumaker, Troy Selsor, Roger Selsor, Reuben Tipton, and Joe Clapp. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday the 9th of October at Brown-Winters Funeral Home in Fairland.
