Randy Garth Tanner

Randy Garth Tanner, 61, of Miami, crossed from this life to his eternal home with his Savior on Wednesday, May 14, 2014. He was surrounded by the ones he loved. Randy was born August 15, 1952 in Claremore, Oklahoma to Garth and Billie Tanner. He lived most of his life in the Grove and Miami area. Randy loved hunting and fishing with his brother in laws, admiring and studying gems, bird watching in his backyard but he especially loved reading God’s Word and sharing his faith with all those he loved. In April of 1975 Randy met the love of his life. After four dates in four days he ask Kay McPherson to marry him. Forty years later their loved had only grown. In 1983 Randy became the proud father of Everett Garth Tanner. Randy is preceded in death by his mother, father, grandparents, and several aunts, uncles along with his very special chocolate lab, Otis Campbell Tanner. He is survived by his beloved Kay and Everett of their home; his step mother Jackie Tanner of Grove, and brothers Don Tanner, of Grove; Max Tanner and wife Cember of Sapulpa; Dusty Tanner and wife Traci of Dallas; Mike Heatherly and wife Kellie of Grove, his sisters Terri Powers and husband Larry of Vinita and Debbie Jones and husband Gene of Miami. He is also survived by Ray and Wanda McPherson of Jacksonville, North Carolina; Alan and Nina McPherson of Suffolk, Virginia; Darlene McPherson of Miami; Sandy and Mike Poe of Bluejacket; Mary Lou and Gabe Lawlis of Claremore and Fay and Aaron Ayres of Miami. Special lifelong buddies Rick Trigg and Glenn and Anna Edwards, and his “little girl” Meghann Booker and her family of Surprise, Arizona, as well as his “grandson”, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and many dear friends. Randy’s Memorial service is planned for Friday, May 30, 2014 at 2:00 PM at the Apostolic Assembly of God in Miami. In lieu of flowers the family humbly asks that memorial contributions be made in Randy’s name to help with funeral costs and can be made in care of the Brown-Winters Funeral Home and Cremation Service. Cremation Services have been placed in the care of Brown-Winters Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Miami.
