Ralph R. Johnston

Mr. Ralph R. Johnston ran his race and finished his course and left this world behind and entered into his eternal peace and rest with his lord and savior on January 22, 2011 at the age of 85 years. Ralph was born in Lincolnville, Oklahoma on January 18, 1926 to his parents Robert and Bessie Johnston. On November 24, 1942 Ralph took Miss Johnnie Peck as his wife and were married for over 66 years. He and Johnnie resided in Miami since 1988. Ralph has been a servant of the Lord his entire life loving and ministering God’s word. He was ordained with the Assemblies of God in 1965 and pastored at Miller Flats Assembly of God. Ralph’s entire life was dedicated to his Savior Jesus Christ. He truly had a pastor’s heart. Ralph taught the men’s bible class at Miami First Assemble of God as well as ministering with Set Free Ministries. He enjoyed gardening, and cooking. Ralph’s second calling could have been as a chef. He loved to serve. Many wonderful family memories were made around the table enjoying his fabulous food. Today, Ralph is being served by his fathers never ending manna. Ralph was a true example of the body of Christ. He loved his family dearly. His grandchildren and great grandchildren were his greatest treasure on this earth, but with no doubt his truest treasure was his Lord and Savior. Although Ralph is no longer with us, his memory and legacy will be kept alive through the family and friends he leaves behind which include: 1 Daughter: Judy and husband Larry Convirs of Wyandotte, Oklahoma, 1 Son: Johnny and wife Pam Johnston of Miami, Oklahoma, 1 Sister: Betty Hudson of Miami, Oklahoma, 12 Grandchildren: Leon Simmons Jr., Jeff Simmons, Tanya Simmons, Jerry Herd, Terry Herd, Cindy Morris, Chris Simmons, Carrie Simmons, Gene Owens Jr., Levi Convirs, Ashley Coleman and Tara Watts, 17 Great grandchildren and 1 Great- Great Grandchild and a host of longtime friends, neighbors and church family. Ralph is preceded in death by his parents, wife: Johnnie Johnston, September 10, 2010, 2 Daughters: Connie Owens, Linda Simmons, 1 Sister: Ruth Sharp, 3 Brothers: Norman, Bob and Lloyd Johnston. Ralph’s Home Going Celebration will be held 10:00 AM, Wednesday January 26, 2011 at First Assemble of God with Pastor Larry Convirs and Pastor Raymond Frizzelle officiating. Interment will follow at GAR Cemetery. The family will receive friends and family for visitation on Tuesday evening from 6-8 PM at Cooper-Althouse Funeral Home. Pallbearers serving will include: Levi Convirs, Terry Herd, Randy Morris, Jeff Coleman, Matt Watts and Norman Hughes.
