Peggy Ann Jones

Peggy Ann (Peters) Jones was born April 30th, 1932, in Wyoming. She was the last of seven children of Henry and Clara Peters. She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Clara Peters, as well as five brothers and one sister. Her husband, Billy R Jones passed away in 2016. She is survived by her two sons: David Jones and his wife Janice of Miami, OK and Mark Jones and his wife Sharon of Cherryville, Kansas, three grandkids: Jennifer McLaughlin, Jessica Blalock, and Chris Jones, seven Great Grandkids: Natalie Noel, Emily Noel, Hanna Noel, Jericho Jordan, Amaya Jordan, Kensley Jones, and Wyatt Jones. Peggy was born in Wyoming and soon after moved to Missouri with her family and worked on her family’s beef and dairy farm. After graduation, she moved to California to live close to her brother, Max. While in California, she worked as a telephone operator, and she met her husband, Bill Jones. Bill was in the Air Force, so they moved around as they were stationed. They were first stationed in England and then moved back to California, where David was born. Later, they were stationed in Kanas, where Mark was born. Next, they were stationed in Roswell, New Mexico. Then Plattsburgh, New York, where after twenty-one years in the Air Force, Dad retired and moved the family to Missouri. While living in Missouri, Peggy not only raised her two boys, but she also worked in many different churches’ Sunday school departments. She loved to garden and always had beautiful flowers. In 1978 they moved to Baxter Springs, Kansas, where she continued to teach in Sunday School and worked at American National Bank until she retired. After retiring, she continued to teach Sunday School. In 1998, they moved to Miami, Oklahoma, where she continued to teach young children about God’s love. She worked tirelessly in children’s church instilling a love for God’s word in hundreds of kids. After her husband Bill passed away in 2016, she continued to teach, raise a garden, and have beautiful flowers. She continued to live at home until diagnosed with cancer. She went back to her Heavenly Father’s hand on Sunday, Nov 17th after a stay in Windridge Nursing Home. She was loved and respected for her teaching ability and unwavering love of GOD’s word. She will be missed but never forgotten. Saturday, November 23, 2024, at Grand Army of the Republic Cemetery in Miami, Oklahoma, with Reverend Jarrod Kendall officiating.
