Patsy L Wade

Patsy Louise Wade, 86, passed away on January 17, 2019, after a brief illness. She was born on March 8, 1932 in Miami, Oklahoma to Shelvy Creed (Jake) and Sylvia Maria Jolley. Patsy grew up in Miami. She graduated from Miami High School in 1950. After high school she attended NE Oklahoma A&M for one semester in Miami. She worked for the local music store as a sales clerk before becoming a full time homemaker and mother. At Christmas time, she worked at The Hub Clothing Store wrapping Christmas packages. . She was employed at the Miami Tribe as the CCDF Director from 1991-2003. She enjoyed this job immensely especially the people that she worked with and all the experiences that came with the job. Patsy is a member of the Cherokee Tribe. Patsy married Chuck, her high school sweetheart, in November 1950 at the First Baptist Church in Miami. They were married for 49 years. During her lifetime, Patsy was involved in 4-H, PTO, Den Mother, Homemaker’s club, WMU and was a Sunday school leader. What she enjoyed most was being with her family. She liked playing games, playing skip-bo with the grandkids, and in her younger days, she loved pulling pranks on people. She had a contagious laugh that made it difficult not to have fun around her. She always made others feel welcome and spent her life doing for others. She especially loved holidays and made each one a special occasion. Patsy is survived by her four children: Chuck Wade of Miami; Shelva Sooter and husband Mark of Miami; Keith Wade of Neosho, Missouri; and Stacy Williams and husband, Jeff of Miami; eleven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Patsy was preceded in death by her husband; her parents, her two brothers, and her granddaughter. A visitation will be held at Brown-Winters Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 5 B Street NW. Miami from 2-4 pm Sunday, January 20, 2019. Graveside Service will be held at Grand Army of the Republic Cemetery in Miami, at 10:00am, Monday, January 21, 2019 In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to Oklahoma Special Olympics, 6835 S.
