Orville Stephen "Steve" Macklin

Orville Stephen Macklin “Steve” was born December 13, 1949, to O.C. Macklin and Lillian (Phillips) Macklin in Miami, Oklahoma. Steve grew up in Miami with his three sisters, Teri, Judee and Cindy, he has maintained close relationships with each of his sisters and has lovingly told many a good story about their early years. Steve graduated from Miami High School in 1968. In 1978 Steve married the love of his life, Kathy Brockie Macklin. Steve already had his daughter, Mandy, and together he and Kathy had Ashley, Nicholas and Michael. Steve absolutely loved coaching little league football and baseball and coached for several years. He thoroughly enjoyed coaching both Nick and Michael and their friends! Growing up, Steve enjoyed playing football, basketball and baseball and remains close with many of his friends that he made in junior high and high school. Like the movie The Sandlot, this group of friends became inseparable and have maintained their friendship through the years with the guys coming for visits, calling, and taking him to lunch in recent times. He also had a great love for fishing! You could catch him early in the morning with his rod and reel down by the Neosho River. Steve worked for Yellow Transit in Baxter Springs, Kansas and then worked as an electrician apprentice. Oklahoma University was his favorite college team; he loved rooting on his Sooners! Steve would say his greatest joy came from his family! He became “Papa Steve” to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He traveled to watch football and basketball games, dance recitals and cheer competitions. He was an avid encourager to each grandchild and to his many nieces and nephews! Steve was preceded in death by his parents, O.C. and Lillian Macklin. He is survived by his wife of the home Kathy, daughter Mandy and husband Kevin Frailey, daughter Ashley and husband Doug Hilburn, son Nicholas Macklin and Terri Dawn, son Michael Macklin and Savannah, granddaughter Cassie Wittman and husband Skyler, grandson Nate Frailey and wife Amber, granddaughter Tori Price and husband Brett, grandson Ethan Clark and wife Rachel, granddaughter Yasmin Macklin, grandson Isaac Macklin, granddaughter Nichollette McCabe and husband Jeremy, granddaughter Darcey Barton and husband Hunter, granddaughter Sidany Hilburn, granddaughter Gabby Villarreal, granddaughter Raquel Macklin and husband Jake, great-grandson Keldan Clark, great-grandson Felix Frailey, great-granddaughter Violet Wittman, great- grandson Karben Shoemaker, great-granddaughters Mackenzie, Brooklynn and Lanie McCabe, sister Teri Hite, sister Judee Snodderly and husband Chris, sister Cindy Roberts, along with many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews. Lastly, his faithful sidekick “Tucker”, his German shepherd. There will be a memorial service for Mr. Macklin at 2:00 PM, on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at The American Legion in Miami, with Reverend Dan Weiser officiating. Family will receive family and friends following the service until 4:00 PM. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Brown-Winters Funeral Home and Cremation Service to assist with the costs of the funeral arrangements.
