Lenora Ruth Stephens

Lenora "Ruth" Stephens, 65, a longtime Miami resident and Pastor's Wife passed away on Sunday, October 27, 2019 at her home. Ruth was born April 30, 1954 to George and Mary (Buzzard) Davis in Ukiah, California. She graduated from Dos Palos High School in 1972, just after marrying Mike Stephens in December of 1971. Together, they traveled across America, preaching and singing the Gospel. In 1996, Ruth and her husband Mike settled in Oklahoma. Ruth loved playing the piano and directing the choir. She had a big voice and an even bigger personality. She also enjoyed traveling, especially to the ocean. She loved to laugh and to be in the middle of a crowd. Some of her favorite things included her grandbabies, her many nieces and nephews, black gospel music, trying new dessert recipes and people who consistently sang on-key. Ruth was preceded in death by her father, George Davis. Ruth is survived by her Husband, Reverend Michael Stephens of the home, and five children: Shawn Stephens and wife RussAnn (Layne) of Smithland, Kentucky; Jonathan Stephens and wife Julie (Richardson) of Neosho, Missouri; Thomas Stephens and wife Terina (Holden) of Miami; Sarah Stephens of Miami, and Rebekah Carr and husband Phillip of Dayton, Ohio. She is also survived by her Mother, Mary Davis, and four brothers, George Davis Jr. of Seneca, James Davis of Riverdale, California, Robert Davis of Seneca, and Michael Eugene Davis of Wyandotte, as well as her sister-in-law Brenda Stephens, and brother in law Sherman Stephens. She is also survived by fourteen grandchildren: Morgan Stephens, Luke Stephens, Mark Stephens, Abigail Stephens, Jonathan (Jack) Stephens II, Clara Stephens, Bruce Stephens, Charlotte Rose Stephens, Wesley Carr, Emma Carr, Elliott Carr, Corinne Carr, Jacob Stephens, and two great grandchildren, Alyvia Stephens and Jonathan Stephens. Visitation is from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Faith Pentecostal Church in Miami on Thursday, October 31, 2019. Services are 2:00 PM, Friday, November 1, 2019 also at Faith Pentecostal Church. Services have been placed in the care of Brown-Winters Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Miami. Interment will be at the Glen-Abbey Memorial Gardens following the service.
