Jappie Monroe Roberson

Jappie Roberson passed from this life and entered into eternal life January 30, 2012, at the age of 86 in Miami, Oklahoma. Jappie was born January 28, 1926, in Hickory Grove, Oklahoma, to his parents Warren and Minnie Roberson. Jappie worked for BF Goodrich in the Quality Control Department for 40 years. He and his late wife Betty Mae (Nichols) Roberson married December 13, 1946, in Baxter Springs, Kansas. They were married 65 years at her passing in February of 2009. Jappie attended Fairland Public Schools before entering the military. He served his country in the United States Navy as signalman on the USS Zeal from 1942-1945. Jappie started and coached several little league baseball teams in Miami including the Northwest Reds. He was a baptized member of the Reorganized Latter Day Saints and faithfully served the Lord as Elder and Pastor for over 20 years. He continued his service as Pastor at the Church of Jesus Christ Restoration Branch of Miami. He and Betty served their church as youth group leaders and Jappie served as pastor for many youth camps throughout the years. He is survived by 2 daughters: Nancy and husband Jim Wells of Miami, Kathy and husband Woodie Martin of Miami, 2 sons: Ken and wife Kay Roberson of Tulsa, and Greg and wife Tracy Roberson of Tulsa, 6 grandchildren: Nicole and husband James Panter of Miami, Ty and wife Amber Roberson of Tulsa, Brad and wife Leslie Roberson of Tulsa, Scott and wife Katy Roberson of Tulsa, Jami Martin Plemmons of Miami, Perri, Peyton and Quinn Roberson of Tulsa, 7 great grandchildren and sister: Peggy Earls of Houston, TX. Jappie is preceded in death by his wife: Betty Mae Roberson, mother and father: Warren and Minnie Roberson, daughter: Susan Roberson Collier, Brother: Warren Roberson Jr. and granddaughter: Ashley Nicole Collier. Funeral Service will be held 10:00 AM Friday February 3, 2012 at Church of Jesus Christ Restoration Branch with interment to follow at Fairland Cemetery. The family will receive friends for visitation on Thursday February 2, 2012 from 6-8 PM at Cooper-Althouse Funeral Home. Services are under the direction of Cooper-Althouse Funeral Home.
