James "Jim" Henry Couch

James H Couch May 16, 1937 – August 16, 2023 Our most amazing, kind and wonderful father passed away peacefully in his home on August 16, 2023. He was 86 years young. He showered us with unconditional love, compassion, inspiration and guidance our entire lives. Our worlds revolved around him as he was our guiding light. The vast emptiness we feel will be only relieved by the endless memories we made together as a family. These cherished times will provide strength and hope forever. Dad had a true zest for life! He was a joyful, happy soul and always had a spring in his step, humming a song or whistling a tune with his brilliant blue eyes sparkling all the while. Dad always said, “I know how to show myself a good time!” Jim was raised in Welch, Oklahoma which is where the love story of Jim and Wanda began. Childhood sweethearts, they were married on June 28, 1958 and settled in Miami, Oklahoma. Soon thereafter, Jim joined the Marine Corp where his natural leadership skills and hard work ethic propelled his career. From BF Goodrich to Bomford, Couch & Wilson and beyond, Jim’s professional success enriched so many lives. Throughout his lifetime in Miami Jim was very involved in the community that he loved. Not only did he promote a positive perspective about Miami but he also enjoyed fostering others in the community to do their best. Jim was a member of the local Jaycees, Miami Masonic Lodge, Akdar Shrine Temple, Grand Lake Shrine Club and the Royal Order of Jester’s Court 47 of Tulsa. He was very involved with the Miami Chamber of Commerce, Miami Rotary Club and serviced on many foundation boards. Jim was an active member of All Saints Episcopal Church. Jim was predeceased by his wife Wanda and his daughter Kirsten Couch. Jim is survived by daughters Gretchen Couch and Rachel Molokin, son-in-law Oleg Molokin and two treasured granddaughters Alexandra and Elizabeth. A funeral service for Jim will be held Saturday at 1:00 P.M. at All Saints Episcopal Church, Miami, OK. Arrangements are under the direction of Brown-Winters Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
