Gladys J. Heppner

Gladys Jenora Heppner of Afton, OK passed away on Friday, February 14, 2020 at the age of 98 Gladys was born on August 16, 1921 in Butterfield, Minnesota to Seymour & Emma (Hunstad) Anderson. She graduated high school in 1939 from Butterfield High School. Gladys married Leo Victor Heppner on April 29, 1943 where they lived in Mountain Lake, Minnesota. They moved to Osceola, Missouri in 1957 and after a short time they moved to Willard, Missouri. Leo and Gladys relocated from Missouri to Miami, Oklahoma in 1968. After Leo’s death in 1982 Gladys moved back to Springfield, Missouri until 1986 when she returned to Afton, Oklahoma. Gladys never met a stranger & always hugged everyone. She loved her family, church, church family, watching her grandchildren & great-grandchildren in their sporting events & camping with family. Gladys is the mother of 4 children Robert (deceased) & wife Jill Heppner of Branson, Missouri, Roger & wife Barbara Heppner of Winnsboro, Texas, Donna & husband Tom Neil of Springfield, Missouri & Judy & husband Tommy Bassett of Afton, Oklahoma. 10 Grandchildren Lisa Humble & April & husband Bobby Shinn of Oklahoma, Brian & wife Ronna Heppner, Kim & husband Larry Thrap, & Kala Russell of Missouri, Karen & husband Charles Dearing, Diana & husband Jason Carpenter, & Jacob & wife Angela Heppner of Texas, Sheri & husband Matt Preston of Georgia & Steve & wife Missy Bassett of Oklahoma. 18 Great-Grandchildren Wacy & wife Jordan Humble, Ky Humble, Dalton & Carlee Shinn of Oklahoma, Eden, Dawson & Weston Heppner, Austin, Ben & Chandler Thrap & Finley Russell of Missouri, Gwyneth & Evie Thorman, Brendan Barnard, Erika & Katelyn Heppner of Texas, Ryan & Marley Preston of Georgia 1 Great-Great-Grandchild Renix Humble of Oklahoma Sister-in-Law Vivian Anderson of Minnesota Many Nieces & Nephews Gladys had the privilege of being a special grandmother to Kathy, JoAnna, Jack, & Jana all from China. Gladys is preceded in death by husband Leo Heppner in 1982, Son Robert Heppner in 2008, Brothers Marlyn Anderson in 1988 & Kermit Anderson 2015, Sister-in-Laws Viola Anderson in 1995, Edna Fast in 2004 & Doris Fast in 1996, Brother-in-laws Jack Fast in 1999 & Walt Fast in 2011 along with her nephew Ivan Fast who passed in 2019. Visitation will be 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the Trinity Southern Baptist Church Life Center on Monday, February 17, 2020. There will be a Celebration of Life 2:00 PM, on Tuesday, February 18, 2020 at Trinity Southern Baptist Church with Reverend Brian Gibson, Reverend David Holland, Reverend Blake Wallace and Reverend Wendall Brown officiating. Interment will follow at the Mount Hope Cemetery under the care of Brown-Winters Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Afton. Gladys’ casketbearers will be her grandchildren, great grandchildren and her great great grandchild. The family has asked that memorial contributions be made to Trinity Southern Baptist Church in Afton.
