Frances Nadine Turner

Frances Nadine (Case) Turner, 91, of Fairland, Oklahoma, passed away in Muskogee, OK, surrounded by her family. She was born on February 7th, 1935, in Putnam, OK, to Vernley Wayne Case and Anna Ruth (Dean) Case. When she was about fifteen years old, Frances and her parents moved from Putnam to Fairland due to her father’s health concerns. Frances graduated from Fairland High School in 1953. In 1955, Frances married the love of her life, Jimmie Turner; together they farmed and raised five children. She and Jimmie raised a very large garden each summer. They canned and froze all the vegetables for the family to eat the next year. Along with her “green thumb” for raising produce, Frances was also Jimmie’s farm helper, driving the tractor and helping with winter cattle chores until the kids were big enough to help and eventually take over the farm chores. Among her other talents, she was a very skilled seamstress. She made the girls’ dresses and a lot of shirts for the boys and Jimmie. She even made time if a friend or relative needed help with a sewing project or had alterations they needed. Frances was also an excellent cook. For holidays, she always made delicious pies. Sometimes she would try to make each person attending the holiday meal their favorite pie plus one to take home. Survivors include her five children Teresa Mahurin and her husband Richard, Lisa Lewis and her husband Johnny, Retha Snow and her husband Stephen, James Turner and his wife Teresa, Dewayne Turner and his wife Julie, thirteen grandchildren Tawnya Potter and husband James, Travis Mahurin and wife Shannon, Karen Raith and husband Nathan, Rusty Lewis and wife Barbara, Jana Clift and husband Bryan, Brent Cunningham and wife Jennifer, Billy Cunningham, Bryan Snow and wife Anna, Jennifer Hayes and husband Andy, Jamie Turner, Newt Turner and wife Maddie, James Turner and wife Tasha, Aaron Turner and wife Brittney. And her twenty-seven great grandchildren and eleven great-great grandchildren. Visitation will be on Thursday, July 23, 2026 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Brown-Winters Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Fairland, Oklahoma. Frances’ Celebration of Life will be 2:00 PM, Friday, July 24, 2026 at First Christian Church in Fairland. Interment will follow at the Fairland Cemetery under the care of Brown-Winters Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
