Earnest Otis Patterson

Earnest Otis Patterson, 87, a resident of Miami, Oklahoma, passed away at Integris Miami Hospital in Miami, Oklahoma, on Thursday, March 6, 2025. Earnest was born in Picher, Oklahoma on July 17, 1937, to Lynn Ray Patterson and Ruby “June” (Wimsett) Brown. After high school, Mr. Patterson served his country in the United States Air Force. Ernie earned his master’s degree from Pittsburg State University in Physics. The majority of his career was spent with Eagle Picher working with lithium crystals. Ernie is preceded in death by his wife Mary “Rhodes” Patterson of 60 years, parents Lynn and Imogene Patterson and Mother June Brown. Ernie had many passions including hunting, fishing, bowling, and Budweiser; but none more than his love of baseball. He played ball all through his Picher school years, college years, military years, work years and his “old man” years. He played his last baseball game around forty, transitioning to softball. Ernie was named to the United States Slow-Pitch Softball All-World team in 1997. Ernie is preceded in passing by his wife of sixty years, Mary (Rhodes) Patterson, his father, Lynn Ray Patterson, his wife, Imogene; mother, June Brown and husband Hayden Brown, and grandmother Stella Casteel Patterson. He is survived by his daughters Teresa Patterson and husband Nathan Stacy of Houston, TX, Liz Patterson-Stidham and husband Steve of Tulsa, OK, Wanoka Jenkins and husband Michael of Rogersville, MO, grandchildren Sarah Stidham and husband Chris Gonzales of Chicago, IL, Justin Jenkins and wife Stephanie of Camdenton, MO, great-grandchildren Jack and Caroline Gonzales and Remi and Ryker Jenkins, brothers Jack Beggs and wife Debbie of Tulsa, OK, Dickie Brown and wife Regina of Tulsa, OK, sister “Punkin” Haydenna Romero of Miami, OK. There will be a visitation for Mr. Patterson starting at 4:30 P.M. to 6:30 P.M. on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, at Brown-Winters Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Miami, Oklahoma. Funeral Services will be at 1:00 P.M. on Wednesday, March 12, 2025, at Brown-Winters Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Miami, with Reverend Jarrod Kendall Officiating. Burial will immediately follow at the Grand Army of the Republic Cemetery in Miami, Oklahoma. Services have been placed in the care of Brown-Winters Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Miami.
