Betty Jo Boyd

Betty Jo Boyd, 81, a resident of Denton, Texas, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her loved ones on February 23, 2025. Betty was born April 23, 1943 to Ellis R. and Lura Mae Nickerson in Fairland, Oklahoma. After graduation from Fairland High School, Betty Jo married and moved to Miami where she lived for over 60 years and raised her two daughters. Betty was above all else a homemaker and a devoted mother. She was active in her children’s lives, often participating and encouraging their hobbies and extracurricular interests. Betty considered being a mom and caring for her family as her purpose and gave tirelessly to support them in whatever manner she could. Along with her work as a banker and employment at the Eastern Shawnee Tribe, Betty was also a longtime volunteer for the Meals on Wheels program in Miami. Betty always had a penchant for flowers and gardening, marked by the beautiful backyard garden her children loved to play in. She loved crafting and enjoyed classic movies and game shows, a love she passed along to her children and grandchildren. In her retirement years, Betty moved to Guthrie, OK and then Denton, TX; Places she could be close to those she loved and live comfortably. She will be dearly missed by her family. Daughter, Sheri Kee and husband Craig, grandchildren, Drew Kee and Alec Kee, son-in-law Kevin George, brother Charles Nickerson, and wife Becky. Betty is preceded in death by her daughter Sheila George and granddaughter Shelby George. In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorial donations be made to the Team Sanfilippo Foundation at www.sanfilippofoundation.org There will be a visitation for Betty at Brown-Winters Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Miami from 12:00 P.M. to 1:30 P.M. on Tuesday, March 4, 2025. Graveside services will follow at Fairland Cemetery in Fairland, Oklahoma with Reverend Jarrod Kendal Officiating. Services have been placed in the care of Brown-Winters Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Miami.
