Beth R. Macklin

Longtime resident of Miami, Oklahoma Mrs. Beth Macklin passed into eternity on November 28, 2010 in Quapaw , Oklahoma at the age of 78 years surrounded by her family. Beth was born March 6, 1932 in Miami, Oklahoma to her parents Pete and Myrtle Dowty. On March 2, 1979 Mr. O.C. Macklin took Beth as his bride at NW Baptist Church in Miami, Beth retired from the ASCS office after 27 years of employment. Beth was a true sports fan. She loved cheering on her OU Sooners during football season. Beth also enjoyed watching the Cardinals during the baseball season. Beth and OC loved to travel. They drove their motor home all over the United States enjoying their retirement time together. Beth’s true love was her family and grandchildren. Beth also had a loyal companion that she treasured dearly, her Yorkie, Maxie. Although Beth is no longer with us, her memory and legacy will be kept alive through the family and friends she leaves behind which include: Her husband of the home: O.C. Macklin, 3 Sons: Mike McVay of Miami, Ok, Curt McVay and wife Debra of Bluejacket, Ok, Steve Macklin and wife Kathy of Miami, Ok, 4 Daughters: Kim and husband Grover Smith of Vinita, Ok, Terri and husband Tom Hite of Bentonville, Arkansas, Judee and husband Chris Snodderly of Miami, Ok, Cindy Roberts of Tucson, Az, 19 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews, longtime friends and neighbors. Beth is preceded in death by her parents, 2 Brothers: Earl and Paul Dowty, 3 Sisters: Elva Rhoten, Doris Frost, Chris Taylor and 1 Grandson: Brian Newman. Pallbearers serving the family include: Joshua Huffman, Caleb Huffman, Caanan Huffman, Beeper Huffman, Michael Macklin and Pete McVay. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM, Thursday December 2, 2010 at First Christian Church with Pastor Leon Weece officiating. Interment will follow at GAR Cemetery. The family will receive friends for visitation on Wednesday evening December 1, 2010 at the Funeral Home from 6-7 PM. The family has chosen Cooper-Althouse Funeral Home with their services.
