Bernie Duvall

Bernie R. DuVall, a resident of Miami, OK, passed away on October 15, 2015 with the love of his life and his wife of 47 years, Peggy Eileen Fearmonti DuVall, by his side. Bernie was born in Columbus, KS on February 16, 1948 to Patricia “Pat” M. Walker DuVall and Robert E. DuVall. His family also includes sisters Georgia (Harold) Huggins of Mount Vernon, MO, the late Roberta (Merle) Hammer of Merriam, KS and Kathy Leonard of Columbus, KS. Bernie graduated from Cherokee County Rural High School (now Columbus Unified High School) in 1966 where his lifelong love for the game of football began with his high school buddies on the field for the Titans. He worked for BF Goodrich in Miami for 15 years until the plant’s closure in 1986, and Newell Coach in Miami for 26 years where he was a proud member of the United Steelworkers Local 627. He loved spending time with his family and 3 grandchildren, Gavin Holmberg, Allyson DuVall and Brooke DuVall, collecting Hot Wheels and going to car shows, and cheering on his adopted college football team, the Pittsburg State University Gorillas. He is survived by wife Peggy of the home, children Misi (Scott) Holmberg of Ballwin, MO and Brandon (Kim) DuVall of Overland Park, KS, three grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Sunday, October 18, 2015 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Brown-Winters Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Miami. Celebration of Life Services will be 1:00 PM at Brown-Winters Funeral Home and Cremation Service with Minister Mark Rasor officiating. Interment will follow at the Highland Park Cemetery in Pittsburg, Kansas under the care of Brown-Winters Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Afton Bernie’s family would like to express special thanks to Dr. Brahmandy and all the nurses and staff at Freeman Cornell-Beshore Cancer Institute in Joplin, MO for their exceptional care and compassion over the last three and a half years.
