Marjorie L. Moore

Marjorie Lavina Lesan was born the daughter of George and Vina Lesan on February 12, 1921, in Chanute, Kansas, and was soon big sister to Dixie "Jean" Lesan Walser of Miami. She became Marjorie Moore, wife of James Edwin Moore, on June 26, 1938, a roll she filled for 76 years. James and Margie had two children, Jimmy Bryant Moore of Chula Vista, California, and the late Linda Jean Moseley. They also raised a grandaughter, Joyce Moore Irwin of Miami, from the age of 2. James and Margie enjoyed many adventures over the years, living in Bell Gardens and Bell, California; Baxter Springs, Wichita, Coffeyville, and Winfield, Kansas; and settling in Miami, Oklahoma. Margie held a few different jobs in her lifetime, but the two she truly enjoyed and was most proud of was caring for children in her home and maintaining the dining room of the original Miami McDonald's. James and Margie loved to travel, and it was not unusual for them to drive two hours to have breakfast so they could enjoy the scenery along the way. While living in California, one of their favorite places to go was Knotts Berry Farm, where they enjoyed people-watching as much as the park itself. In later years they drove from Miami to Baxter Springs to go through McDonalds drive-thru and eat lunch by the river in the park. They also enjoyed country music and Margie accompanied James to dances, hootenannies, and jam sessions, occasionally singing a song herself. She also enjoyed sewing quilts, painting, making candy, canning, Yahtzee, family reunions and picnics, and she loved their dog Buffy, coaxing her to "sing" duets with her. A daughter, sister, wife, mother, and grandmother, Margie loved being all of them. Though James was the love of her life, their children and grandchildren were a close second. Besides being Mom to Jimmy and Linda, she was Nana to five grandchildren - Joyce and husband Tommy Irwin; Sharon Dimaano and husband Jonathon of Corona, California; Tina Martinez and husband Paul of LasVegas, Nevada; Donna Perry and husband Jim of Arkansas City, Kansas; and David Price of Cameron, Missouri. She was also Nana to 13 great-grandchildren and a great-great-granddaughter she adored. She hosted many children's tea parties, taught kids to dig, played jacks and lots of card and board games. Margie was a member of Northwest Baptist Church of Miami and loved her Sunday School class. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and daughter.
