Clifton "Tony" Shepard

Clifton “Tony” Shepard, 60, a longtime area resident passed away on Friday, December 30, 2016 at Saint Francis Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was born on May 26, 1956 in Helena, Arkansas to M.L. “Bunk” Shepard and Lula (Atkinson) Shepard. Tony was a graduate of Fairland High School, Class of 1974. After high school he went on to attend Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College in Miami, Oklahoma where he graduated with his Associates in 1977, then moved on to Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, Oklahoma where he received his Bachelors’ Degree in 1979. He married Debbie France on August 9, 2008 in Eureka Springs, Arkansas. Mr. Shepard worked as a USDA County Executive Director (CED) for 33 years in Ottawa and Delaware Counties. He was a member of the Wesley Foundation Board, Afton School Board, Ottawa County Health Board, the Federal Selective Services Board and he and Debbie were also members of the First United Methodist Church in Miami. He was preceded in passing by his parents, Bunk and Lula Shepard. Survivors include his wife Debbie of the home, his children Cristina Oakley and her husband Jason of Miami, Abigail Stanford and her husband Shawn of Norman, Samuel Shepard of Tahlequah, Gerri Satterwhite and her husband Rusty of Bluejacket, Janelle Cordray and her husband Bucky of Tulsa, and Greg Giles and his wife Krystian of Grove, his siblings Della Shepard of Grove, Marilyn Carson and her husband David of Oklahoma City, Gail Crafton and her husband Jackie Crafton of Fairland, and Karen Gray and her husband David of Park Hills, Missouri. Along with his eight Grandchildren, Gabe Satterwhite, DeeDee Satterwhite, Jaida Giles, Hudson Oakley, Cove Cordray, Haelyn Oakley, Gwinn Giles and Holden Oakley. Visitation is from 6-8PM Monday January 2, 2016 at the First United Methodist Church in Miami. Services are 10AM Tuesday January 3, 2016 at the Afton High School Gymnasium with Reverend Chuck Horton officiating. Interment will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery in Afton. The family has ask that memorial contributions be made to the Tony Shepard Memorial Scholarship Fund at First National Bank in Fairland or Miami, or in care of the funeral home.
